The Dimitar Gorchakov Trio project is the latest creative endeavor by pianist and composer Dimitar Gorchakov. He is known to Bulgarian audiences as an active musician through his stylistically diverse projects, which draw on traditions ranging from classical music, jazz, and theater to electronic and experimental music that also find a home on the club scene. With his trio, he blends Bulgarian folklore and the free expression of jazz, creating an original sound that transcends stylistic boundaries and offers a truly multi-layered experience. The audience will hear an entirely original program, featuring new arrangements of pieces from Gorchakov’s debut solo album, as well as music created specifically for this ensemble. The repertoire is rich in textures, rhythmic layers, and emotional contrasts that unfold naturally within the trio’s intimate dynamics. On stage, Gorchakov will be joined by two exceptional musicians whose presence brings a special and authentic depth to the project’s sound—Mihail Ivanov on contrabass and Adrian Nikolov on drums. Both are well-known on the Bulgarian and international jazz scene, with extensive experience, diverse projects, numerous appearances at prestigious festivals, and impressive creative biographies. Their virtuosity and intuitive musical communication transform the performance into a lively, improvisational narrative in which every element sounds organic and unpredictable.
