Josefine Opsahl, cello and electronica
Danish composer and cellist Josefine Opsahl is among the most vibrant and fearless names on the international scene. Described by the prestigious magazine The Strad as a „boundary-defying and remarkable artist“, she uniquely intertwines classical tradition, electronic music, and visual art. Placing the cello at the very heart of her work, Opsahl combines flawless virtuosity with bold sonic explorations, transforming every live performance into an immersive audio-visual experience. She is the recipient of esteemed honors, including the Danish Crown Prince Couple’s Stardust Award and the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize. Opsahl has also rapidly established herself as a major force in contemporary opera. Her latest work HJEM won over critics with its radical and uncompromising style, earning the composer descriptions such as „fearless“ and „outstanding“. Her first opera DrømmeDøden was also a massive success, hailed as a „musical sensation“ by the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. Following acclaimed concert tours across Europe, the United States, and Asia, alongside a solo debut at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, she will unfold a captivating, profound, and deeply sensory musical world on the RADAR stage.
