The corona pandemic inevitably affected our lives on multiple levels; it brought confusion and despair, whilst setting us apart like never before. Each and every one of us went through diverse, at times extreme thoughts and emotions related to the loss of a job, a prospect or even the life of a loved one.

These reflections became the main subject of this audiovisual concert by Dimitar and Neyko Bodurov. They have collected videos with personal stories and used them as a libretto for their project. The videos will be accompanied live by a group of musicians and a chamber string orchestra and the special participation of soprano Ilina Mihaylova. The pandemic is now behind us, but we are facing another, perhaps even scarier reality – the war in Ukraine. To date, the project sounds more and more topical, as it turns out that there might be a connection between the two events. Reflector unites video and music in an alternative perspective on the situation, posing the questions of truth, unity and understanding.

The premiere of REFLECTOR took place at the RADAR Festival Beyond Music 2021 in collaboration with Varna International Music Festival Summer including musicians from Varna and conductor Svetoslav Borisov.

The film was made in 2022 as a presentation of an updated version of the concert at the Plovdiv State Opera.

Duration 60 minutes followed by a 20 min. Q & A session with the composer after the screening.

The screening is organised in partnership with Artin Vision and the Night Cinema initiative.
